Manchester Propulsion

Since most costal cruisers only run 50 to 100 hours per season, initial propulsion costs need to be considered before a decision is made between gas and diesel. Our dual GM 6.0 gas engines are surprisingly fuel efficient in comparison with single diesels, as well as being powerful and clean burning. They also run on regular gas saving thousands of dollars at the pump. Outboards used on many boats of this size do not have the balance and handling ability of the Manchester 29. Outboards also compromise the use of a swim platform and do not have the aesthetics of an inboard.

With twin-screw engines that have widely spaced propellers in deep V hulls our boats can literally turn 360 degrees with-in their own length. The redundancy advantages of having twin screws are obvious, particularly if you clog a jet intake port or run over a log with twin screws, as one screw usually survives.Widely spaced twin engines, located beneath optimized seating, enjoy as much cockpit space as outboard powered boats and offer a far better flow of movement than a center located single diesel engine, which you constantly have to walk around. Outboard powered boats in this size do not have the ability to maneuver as closely either due to outboard location and placement. You will not find a boat of this size that maneuvers better than the Manchester. The forward bow thruster combined with a joystick makes this a boat your 6 year old can dock.
